Hu Chenyu, born in 1992 in Shanghai, graduated from the London College of Communication with a master’s degree in photography in 2017, and currently lives and works in Shanghai. Hu Chenyu is an artist adept in multi-media creation, encompassing moving image, photography, and installation. His work focuses on the viewing modes and the impressions conveyed by images in the internet age. By questioning visual habits, his creations aim to unveil the power contexts behind images. In his creative process, Hu Chenyu employs a simple and personal approach to dissolve the legibility of everyday images, thereby evoking a sense of unfamiliarity with the medium and presenting a new way of viewing the ordinary.
